038 — Black History & 6 Year Anniversary Show

In honor of Black History Month, I wanted to recognize some of our favorite Black musicians and composers with a full episode dedicated to their efforts. Additionally, this is our first show of 2016, which parallels as Cease to Exist’s 6th Year Anniversary. I established the radio program while living in Portland, OR in 2010, and aired the inaugural show January 18th, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day that year; a pleasant coincidence.

By no means is this a definitive or comprehensive collection of what I believe to be the best material by these artists, but absolutely some influential tracks among them. The list was culled from many considerations made by the public, and various references collected over the last month. Sensing I assigned myself to a great deal of responsibility, I went back and forth, adding/omitting tracks many times over, ultimately feeling strongly about this selection. My intent lies in the set and the songs will speak for themselves.
