054 — Quédate en Casa with Lizet Ortuño (DJ Mija) & 10 Year Anniversary Show

Since 2010, Las Cruxes Radio has strived to support and share the voices of many artists & peers from all backgrounds in an effort to engage, challenge, and inspire. I found music to be an incredible tool and healing force that transcends all boundaries, helping many through times of joy & celebration, as well as times of distress & loss. With the fierce rise of COVID-19 and many feeling the heavy repercussions & anxiety that follows, I’ve invited friends, family, and collaborators from around the globe to share & spread music while we universally quarantine. A little nugget to guide you through your day or week—wherever it is you need to be. Las Cruxes will continue to broadcast this series throughout the course of this uncertain time; each musical offering unique and special in its own right.

A heartfelt thanks to all of our guests for their time & contributions, and as always, appreciation for the support and openness of our listeners. Much Health & Harmony to All…

The first mix and our program’s 10 Year Anniversary show comes from my sister Lizet Ortuño (DJ Mija). In her own words: “I thought for almost a week about what kind of mix I wanted to share with people. It is a wild time to be present and the World certainly feels different. I struggled and debated if I wanted to make a healing or meditative mix, or if I just wanted to make a bopper. Then I let go and simply chose songs that I love. Songs that get me heady. Songs that help me cope. Songs that allow me to let go. Gently reminding me that in enjoying there is healing. Through all this uncertainty we are participating in a strange shared experience. And the path of least resistance will surely get us through. I hope you enjoy this musical ride and take care of yourselves.”

As the pandemic continues to affect us collectively in innumerable ways, we encourage you to support our guests or an organization of their choosing. If you have the means and are able to contribute, you can send any desired amount directly to: teambrownsville.org
